Today I was reading that the FBI Building in Washington D.C. is out of date and in dire need of repair.  The structure, according the Feds is no longer capable of adhering to the needs of the FBI and as a result the Agency is scattered all over Washington and Virginia.  The FBI has determined that the only recourse left therefore is to build a new complex to replace the one built-in 1976 with a brand new office that fits the structural needs of the ever-expanding agency.  The cost?  $850 Million.

Also I am reading that if the so-called Super Committee in Congress does not come up with a program that slashes the Federal Budget and addresses the Federal Deficit within a mere two weeks from now then Automatic cuts go into effect. Those costs could decimate the Human and Social Service Network across the nation.  The impact would be serious, and perhaps millions of people without any other recourse other than County or State Medical programs, as well as persons on Food Stamps, Medicaid, Medicare, or other health or mental health programs could find themselves without these essential services.  The result will be devastating.

Petitions and letters are being delivered to Congress as we write, but no one seems ready to commit themselves to an all out fight to stop major cuts in these essential programs which one might term the very end of the Social Saftey Net.

The FBI has made it an absolute priority to push for and gain support for their new Office Complex.  The have the clout and power to influence Congress.  Projects that benefit the Federal Government are done all the time.  Millions if not billions are spent without regard to consequences all the time. There is very little oversight.  Such projects are written into the Budgets every year.

However, without hesitation this same government, representing the people of The United States of America will send Billions to other nations to assure health care for their poorest of their poor. But when it comes to our own people in need, they will not hesitate to swing the budget axe in the name of fiscal restraint, and deficit reduction.

Now, I don’t know about you, but when I hear such phrases as Fiscal responsibility, Deficit reduction, and all of us having to share in the sacrifice, I would expect that the Feds would do the same.  Instead, they feed their own belly’s and build another monument to themselves while telling the rest of us to “Eat Cake”.

Something is wrong with this Picture. That is why I am saying to those that read this Blog, to contact their Congressman, and Senator. Tell them that if there is going to be cuts it is time we the People see cuts in federal Spending.  I am also asking you to tell a friend, ask them to respond, and ask them to tell their friends, and to expand this campaign as far as we can. If that happens the voice of the people will heard loud and clear.  The people of this country expect an equal sacrifice from their government.

This government has become dysfunctional. They have lost sight of priority, and have in effect failed the people of this great nation.  The time has come for the People to respond. it is the responsibility of the People therefore, to spread the word as far as we can. We must become involved today.  Because if we fail then there will be nothing to be involved in tomorrow.

I urge you and your friends to become part of the solution………Not part of the problem.

Have a great weekend and to all those soldiers who have served this nation to help keep all of us free, I would like to say in closing;  “Thank you for your service, commitment and dedication and keeping this nation free”.  May God Bless each of you on this veterans Day.

As usual…………God Bless America!

I am 62 years old. I've been blogging for several years. I am into History and Politics as well as currant events. The latter being the main issues covered on these pages. I was a Community Advocate for twenty years, and a volunteer aide in a State Representatives Office in my home state of Michigan. While I have basically ceased these activities, I still watch the world around me closely and report on it as much as I can, which I might add is often. I encourage comments on my Blogs. I only ask that we keep our opinions clean and without insults threats or intimidation. I hope you take time to read The Horton Journal, and look forward to your comments.
