If memory serves me right, the Republicans wanted us out of the Mid-East conflict. President Bush had set up an exit window. President Obama followed that window, and were are just about out of Iraq.  We’re working on getting out of Afghanistan, but that is presenting some issues that have to be dealt with for security purposes. Then Iran starts rattling sabers in our face taunting the United States, and threatening to blow our Navy out of the water. Interesting.

At first the Republicans saw campaign fodder in recognizing that the Obama Administration was having a slow time of getting out of Iran, and then when the window opened, and the President was able to actually get the show on the road, as a matter of fact, faster than expected, the Republicans suddenly realized that things were not going the way they needed it to in order to gain points to grab the White House in 2012.  In short there was a flaw in the plan.

Now here we have the Syria mess, and out of the Blue the Republicans send two of their Senators to the region and they call in the press and start beating the drums of war.  We need to get involved Senator McCain says, we need boots on the ground! The United States needs to jump in …..all of a sudden WAR in the eyes of Republicans is justified.

Not long ago I wrote that the mothers in this country are tired of bringing their kids home in caskets. Our economic situation can no longer support continued full-scale military action in the Mid-East theater.  And everyone knows what is going to happen the minute we put boots on the ground over there.  Republicans will be right there hollering that the American Economy can ill afford yet another conflict in the Mid-East.

One day they want war, the next day they oppose any war.  They refuse to spend money on our own people, our own health care, our own infrastructure, but are more than willing in the name of humanity to go to war in a foreign land, loosing more of our soldiers for something that we gain nothing from.  The only thing that we will gain is higher deficits, which the Republicans will turn on President Obama, and more dead military personnel.

For Republicans, I guess that’s a win-win situation. But for Democrats……..Rush Lembaugh will have a field day.

Have a good night

and God Bless America!

I am 62 years old. I've been blogging for several years. I am into History and Politics as well as currant events. The latter being the main issues covered on these pages. I was a Community Advocate for twenty years, and a volunteer aide in a State Representatives Office in my home state of Michigan. While I have basically ceased these activities, I still watch the world around me closely and report on it as much as I can, which I might add is often. I encourage comments on my Blogs. I only ask that we keep our opinions clean and without insults threats or intimidation. I hope you take time to read The Horton Journal, and look forward to your comments.
