Everyone keeps talking about how great Mitt Romney is, and how much trouble Barrack Obama is in. I have been guilty of the same. Well, tonight, it’s Mitts turn. It is, I have to admit, difficult to be neutral when you personally lean Democrat. But I do not want to be like all the rest and Blog out one article after another attacking either Romney and then lean toward Obama. I hope that I can say that after all this is over, others will look at The Horton Journal and say that we did OK in our political perspective.
However, there are problems with Mitt Romney. They start with who he represents. Who it is that he appeals to. Who he hangs with. It is all too obvious that he has not a clue as to what it is like to live a middle class life. He is rich, and has the real estate to prove it. At least, his wife drives a Cadillac. But that does not answer the question as to whether he can run this country on a fair and neutral basis. The question would be first in my mind “Does this man realize that he is the president of all the people”?
Many think that he could not be this. My fear is that he would represent the rich. Wall St. tycoons, and give all the breaks to the big money people. When it comes time to resolve the economic problems of the country it would be the middle class and the poor, those least able of defending themselves who would pay the piper first. The National Debt will be at the expense of the working Joe. Wall St. who helped get us into this mess in the first place, would not have to assume any responsibility over the recent economic crisis. That in a nut shell is what bothers me most with a Romney Whitehouse.
The issue that the rich would be the ones putting back to work, and over regulation, and their ticket to ride, if you will, is the political agenda. How to best deal with the American economic issues of the day are based mostly on political ideology. But the American people are going to have to look at their own economics and decide from there.
But, there are a lot of other problems with the American form of government that has brought on serious concern for me at least. The paralysis, the inability of Congress and the Senate to function in a bi-partisan manner, the way it should be, and a realization that there are times that one must leave his political ideology at the door and instead do what is best for the country. That has not been the case for the last four years. The reason? The out right bigoted racist hate for President Obama. Say what you want, get angry if you will, but there is no doubt in my mind that is in fact the actual realistic case. And I might add, I think, that deep down inside we all know it! But we just can not bring ourselves around to admit it.
In all my years as an Advocate, or as a Blogger, I have never been witness to such hateful disdain toward a President. Ever! President Jimmy Carter made some very serious mistakes during his tenure in the White House. we all know that. But, even he was not hated as much as this man. President Nixon, forced to resign as a result of Watergate, was permitted to become a statesman and able to recover, to regain respect and admiration of the American People. President Clinton, impeached as a result of the Melinsky scandal, is considered one of the most brilliant Presidents of our time. Yet President Obama, whose vision is different from many Presidents, probably more aligned to that of the Carter years, is hated.
It was Mitch McConnell, a Southern Republican who said “We do not want to do anything that would get this man re-elected. It was a Republican who stood on the House floor during the Presidents State of The Union Address and called Barrack Obama, The President of The United States of America a liar.
It was the Republican Tea Party Gang, who held this Congress hostage for four years because of their disdain and hate for this President that has stalled this Congress.
It is these scars that Mr. Romney carries with him as a Republican Candidate for President. The question is therefore, who is it that this man represents. Is he enough to rise above the disdain of this Congress and clarify what he stands for. Or is he nothing more than a puppet that will do the bidding for those people who will do anything they can to assure that Barrack Obama is nothing more than a one term President?
Those are the questions that concern me as this election moves forward.
That’s my point of view and as usual I look forward to your insights as well. Until then, as usual
Have a great night………….and God Bless America
