Everything was OK with the Republicans just prior to the Supreme Court decision that rocked the Republican Party and declared so-called Obama Care Constitutional. Up until then, no one had a bad word to say about the Supreme Court. Certainly no one had bad words for Justice Roberts. But when the good judge cast the deciding vote in favor of the Health Care reform Act, well in a word…..Republicans went on a Nut! You see, they were sure, absolutely sure, that The US Supreme Court would declare Obama Care Unconstitutional mainly on the grounds that everyone would have to have Health Insurance or pay a stiff fine. But, the Court called the fine, or fee or whatever you want to call it a tax. And declared that thus the Act was in fact constitutional.
That was all it took. All the complimentary remarks and self-confidence assurance the Right was strutting around Capital Hill was gone, and replaced by vehement anger toward the Suprteme Court, now termed a bunch of turn coat lackies. The biggest turncoat of course was Justice Roberts.
So, now that Republicans will have to deal with Obama Care, their new campaign is to change the structure of the Supreme Court. In their opinion it should now be an elected position. I mean after all My Fellow Americans, should not the people have a choice as to who serves on the highest court in the land. There should also be term limits, no more of this lifetime appointment. and of course, a better structure should be in place so as to remove justices who do not tow the line in accordance to the whims of the people. Hmmm. Interesting.
Our forefathers saw fit to have a Supreme Court appointed by the President and to serve as a lifetime position as well as approval by Congress. That the only just cause for removal was high crimes and misdemeanors. Why? You ask. Because they had the wisdom of foresight for just this kind of situation. Where the so-called will of a given party might not get the decision they want and are thus compelled to throw the justices off the bench. The President, a political position is elected. The Congress, both House and Senate are political position. The court is appointed and is guided to remain politically neutral. Of course, by this decision the court was not neutral, but political. The biggest offender was Chief Justice Roberts. So say the Conservatives. But had the decision been just the opposite, we would hear a different tune from the Conservative aisle. How great this man is, how grave this decision was, and how right the Right was in the first place. But because it went the other way the same people want everything changed. What a joke.
It bothers me when this kind of stuff goes on, because there is no need for it in the first place. The court made a decision, we the people, Democrat and Republican Tea Party and all need to live with it. If the Republicans are going repeal it, then fine. That means the Republicans will be elected in November. But if the will of the people favors so-called Obama Care…..then Democrats will win come November.
But to advocate the change of the whole court structure because one party does not get what they want in a Supreme Court decision is just plain sour grapes.
That my Political Perspective, and I look forward to yours as well. Until then……….Have a great day and as usual God Bless America!
