Foreign Affairs could do President Obama in.  There is no doubt that while Americans are focused on the economy and jobs as the most important issue of the coming election, a major flare up in the mid-east could be just the thing to upset the already shaky apple cart of the Obama campaign.

Consider, if you will, the current mid-east situation.  There is the Afghanistan war that President Obama wanted to bring an end to only to realize through his military advisors as well as generals, that there was no way to bring an end to the conflict during the course of 2012.  As a result, as I have said before, we continue to bring our soldiers home to their mothers in caskets.  All too often this war reminds me of Viet Nam.

Then there is the persistent problem of Syria, which won’t go away and the President has avoided by not supplying arms, despite the fact the Russians are doing for the Syrian regime which just will not give in to the will of the people.  Meanwhile, as the United States just sits there watching the horrific war crimes taking place as innocent people are be slaughtered by their own military, it is all to obvious that the only way to stop the slaughter is military intervention which is not going to happen by the United States at least.

Then there is the Egyption situation that the reader is aware of as well.  Here the Muslim Brotherhood is already taunting the US at the border of Israel as Egyptian military converge risking a serious confrontation. Not a word from Obama.

Of course the China-US debate heating up over the China Sea and the Philippians and Viet Nam, where a military conflict is on the very verge.  The US envoy was called in over what we said regarding the crisis and more or less had our hand slapped.  Nothing, absolutely nothing out of the Obama administration.

All we need is a major blow up in one of these areas, and watch as Obama tries to negotiate his way out of it, and pander to the whims of our enemies, and that could turn the tide right there.

If Romney could convince the American voter that Foreign Affairs are the real stake here then Obama numbers slide, and he dies on the vine. And I think it is a real possibility.

Domestic affairs, and jobs, the economy, Obama Care are the big issues here at home, but if the Mid-East blows up, no one will care much about what is going on at home.  That won’t matter anymore.

I think the slow boil of serious problems are growing over there. I also think that at some point President Obama will have to confront the situation face forward, up front, and display to the American people that he is the leader of the free world.  If he can’t, that is the end of the Obama Administration.

Thats my point of view, and as usual I look forward to your insights.  Until then, have a great night, and as usual……………..God Bless America!

I am 62 years old. I've been blogging for several years. I am into History and Politics as well as currant events. The latter being the main issues covered on these pages. I was a Community Advocate for twenty years, and a volunteer aide in a State Representatives Office in my home state of Michigan. While I have basically ceased these activities, I still watch the world around me closely and report on it as much as I can, which I might add is often. I encourage comments on my Blogs. I only ask that we keep our opinions clean and without insults threats or intimidation. I hope you take time to read The Horton Journal, and look forward to your comments.
