Campaign 2012 is in full swing. The gloves are off, the mud-slinging and name calling is just as fervent and the word “Foul”, is being heard from both parties. The Republicans are mad at Obama for various allegations he has made and Democrats are just as angry at Republicans for allegations that party has splayed all over the map as well. Yes, everyone is having a grand ol’ time.
Vice President Biden is being served up on the platter of Public Dismay for comments he made regarding the Republicans alleged intent to deregulate wall St. He said the Republicans want to loose the chains…….He have y’all back in chains. The Republicans countered with charges of trying to turn the campaign for President into a Racist issue.
Then there is the fist fight over Romney’s choice of Ryan for VP. Far Right, Ultra Conservative, would kill off Social Security, alter Medicare and Medicaid etc; etc;,
And on we go. There is no doubt the gloves are off and the fight is on.
Now let’s get down to some basics here, because I do have some concerns that I would like to reflect. They are serious issues, and from what I understand could have a major impact on anyone who is even venturing the thought of retirement. Social security. Republicans are talking about revising, changing, altering, Social Security in the future. People would be able to open special retirement accounts, replacing Social security. Sounds like a 401(k) to me. Also they would Block Grant Medicare. vultures would be granted. The recipient would have to make up any due balance of course. So, lets say Grandma used up $8,000 in medical expenses on Medicaid. Then there were additional costs of say another $10,000……Grandmas account is only for the amount of say $13,000. So now, Grandma owes $5,000 on a Medicare bill that totaled $18,000. Sort of like kicking Grandma to the curb.
My second gripe is that Republicans were all up in arms of so-called Obama Care, and here they come with this proposal that would just as bad if not worse. What really gets me is that there has not been one word out of the Conservative Talk Radio Shows. Nothing, Natta, not a thing from Rush or Sean. But if a Democrat dared to come up with a plan like that, from what I understand like was introduced by Mr. Ryan…..We would never hear the end of it. But this is a Republican Plan, and they have all the right answers, so it’s not good for the goose because they are the gander. …… Or something like that.
So with all this smooth talk about returning us back to economic soundness, Getting us back on track. Getting out of the economic muck that we dwell within. ( This is where you wave Ol’ Glory), it does not seem to me that either Party is promoting something new under the sun.
Putting it bluntly, Mr. Romney is running around the country slamming Mr. Obama as a man with all the wrong ideas. Yet, if you pay close attention, he is saying very little about the nitty and the gritty of what it is he is actually going to do. Remember a while back when I spoke of Rick Snyder of Michigan. Yeah, the guy who said a whole lot of nothing, and won the election based on the catch phrase….”I’m all about Michigan”. He is now Governor. everyone’s angry because of what he is doing, but he never told them what it was he was going to do. He held his cards close to his chest. and then dumped his recovery plan on Michiganders after he was elected. That is exactly what Mr. Romney is doing. A whole lot of Political, Patriotic propaganda, without saying anything of real substance. Why? Because, if he actually let his plan out of the bag, he would lose the election….Hands Down! So, Mitt will say a whole lot about the failures of President Obama. He will tell us how wrong he is. He’s a Socialist, a Liberal, Former Community Organizer, Big Spender. A communist, whatever he has to say to keep the focus off his real plan.
Obama, Well, he’s doing the same. He has been attacking Mitt Romney from day one. He keeps saying what Romney will do if elected, and I am afraid that Americans are asking what Obama will do to restore the fiscal integrity of America if he is re-elected.
Just a few issues to ponder my friends. Lots of fun this here political game. Only problems is that the issues we face now and in the future are so very serious. Serious in deed.
That’s my point of view, I look forward to your insights as well. Drop a line and if not that’s OK too.
Meanwhile, have a great day and as usual…………..God Bless America!
