AIG OPTS OUT OF SUITE AGAINST FEDERAL GOVERNMENT:  In a decision that was certainly in the best interest of American International Group,AIG, …AIG has decided not to file a lawsuit against the Federal Government. They apparently were upset over the terms of agreement between themselves and the Feds.  AIG has paid off the loan that they received during the financial disaster that nearly took out General Motors and Chrysler.  The housing crisis resulted in thousands of people losing their homes as well as 401 (k) accounts as well, not to mention mutual funds and life savings to boot.

Many in congress as well as the general public voiced serious frustration that AIG was even considering legal action as a result of the recession.  Several Congressmen and Senators were very clear in their warning to AIG saying that they should not even think about suing the Federal Government, or should that be the hand that saved their hide.

GUN CONTROL DISCUSSION GROWS STRONGER AS THE BIDEN COMMITTEE SITS DOWN TO DISCUSS GUN CONTROL AS WELL AS OTHER OPTIONS IN AFTERMATH OF NEW TOWN CONN. KILLINGS; Vice President Biden sat down with presidential advisory panel to discuss alternatives to gun control as well as other options that might reduce the mass killings that we have seen across the country. Advocates opposing gun control say that this is clearly a mental health issue, a case of the wrong people getting their hands on weapons.  Gabby Richards the Congress woman shot during a meet and greet event in her home district and her astronaut husband have clarified that severe gun control legislation is not the answer, but that keeping guns out of the hands of severely mentally ill individuals is a the real key to the problem.  I could not agree more.

I have said in the past that the issue here is dealing with what is actually a serious problem involving the severest of seriously mentally ill individuals who are not getting the actual treatment that they need to even considered well or stable enough to live in society.

The de-institutionalization of Mentally Ill people in such severe condition that life-long on-going treatment or monitoring is necessary are root causes to this problem that persists across the country.  It is here that I feel that Congressional as well as Senate committees should begin to focus.  I would also encourage the Biden Committee to focus here as well.  We will never get to the root of the problem if we allow politics and unrealistic perceptions to prevail. We must get to the root of the issue.

That is my point of view.  I look forward to your insights on the issues of the day. Meanwhile have a great night……….and as usual God Bless America!.

I am 62 years old. I've been blogging for several years. I am into History and Politics as well as currant events. The latter being the main issues covered on these pages. I was a Community Advocate for twenty years, and a volunteer aide in a State Representatives Office in my home state of Michigan. While I have basically ceased these activities, I still watch the world around me closely and report on it as much as I can, which I might add is often. I encourage comments on my Blogs. I only ask that we keep our opinions clean and without insults threats or intimidation. I hope you take time to read The Horton Journal, and look forward to your comments.
