NORTH KOREA………”A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER”!

North  Korea is no doubt a clear and present danger, now than more than it was in the 50’s during the Korean Conflict.

For years the previous leader of North Korea would wage threats and little counter threats that would go no where.  China would step in, tell them to take a chill pill, and then The U.S. would send them a bunch of money to appease them.  Hey they thought, this works, act like we are going to lose the load and they’ll give up mega dollars. We’ll spend it, act out again and they will send us more money.  If they hesitate, we’ll fire a few shots at South Korea, knock off a couple of innocent by-standers, they will capitulate, and we get another check. Not bad….Not a bad gig at all.

Now though, it is a different situation. Pa-pa is gone. His little boy took the throne, if you will, and he is playing with a whole new deck of cards.  He wants to join the most exclusc=ive of clubs.  He wants to join the nuclear powers, and be part of the big p[picture. Yes Sir, North Korea wants to be recognized. The only problem is that Daddy never did get around to teaching the Kid responsibility. So we won’t tolerate North Korea with nuclear capability.  Why? Because they do not understand the seriousness of the responsibility of such capacity.  Not true, you say?

Well, when The United states made it clear that N. Korea was not going to have nuclear capability, the little man decided that he would fire a few missiles. That didn’t work. He made a few threats. That didn’t work either.  When The United States and The United Nations imposed economic sanctions though, and their economy was threatened.  They got the idea, but responded with more threats. As a matter of fact they threatened The United states, with an unprovoked nuclear attacked.  They also said they would relinquish their treaty of cease-fire with South Korea.

Now, they have become The Clear and Present Danger that I am concerned about.  While is thought that at this time they do not have the capability to actually strike The United states, it is thought that within the year they will.  Their past history, and psychological profile indicates that they are prone to doing the unexpected leaning toward the irrational.  Finally, they have attacked before, and there is no reason therefore, to think that they will not be stupid enough to take a shot at South Korea and even fire a nuclear weapon at The United states,

As a result, the U.S. is firming up their missile defense system all along the West coast, as well as Alaska and Hawaii.  In short, we are taking the matter seriously.  We also, flew a couple of B-1 Bombers, nuclear capable of course across the oceans just to assure the Little man that we are not only capable but prepared to do whatever it takes to defend not only The United States, but South Korea as well as Japan if it comes right down to it.

North Korea should hear, learn and heed the warning that The United States is delivering.  This is not a game. This is serious stuff, and the Little Man is threatening the lives of his own people. He is threatening the stability of the entire region. He is threatening the economic stability of China, his closest Allie.  That in its self is a very serious miscalculation.

This is why I am saying the North Korean situation bares watching.  This is why I concur that North Korea is a Clear And Present Danger. One that must be dealt with in very serious terms.

That’s my point of view, and I look forward to your insights on this as well as other matters of the day. Have a good night.

About THE HORTON JOURNAL A POLITICAL PERSPECTIVE

I am 62 years old. I've been blogging for several years. I am into History and Politics as well as currant events. The latter being the main issues covered on these pages. I was a Community Advocate for twenty years, and a volunteer aide in a State Representatives Office in my home state of Michigan. While I have basically ceased these activities, I still watch the world around me closely and report on it as much as I can, which I might add is often. I encourage comments on my Blogs. I only ask that we keep our opinions clean and without insults threats or intimidation. I hope you take time to read The Horton Journal, and look forward to your comments.
