I think that Israel has a motive for their attack on Syria.  I am thinking that their perception was that they had to save face with the world, in that they had made it clear that they had drawn a line in the sand as far as Iran was concerned.  They had made it clear that they would not tolerate a nuclear Iran.  That is all there is to it.

When the time for action came and went, it was obvious that the United States had convinced them not to take action despite the realization that Iran was in fact, moving forward with nuclear capability.  Now, though this put Israel in a bad situation, making them look weak to other Arab nations in the region. They had to save face. They had to do something that would show the rest of the world, especially the Arab world that they ment business and would not be pushed against the wall. What to do?

The answer, it seems came with Syria, and a realization, or manufactured realization, or discovery, whatever you want to call it, was shipping missiles to Hezbollah and that those weapons posed an immediate threat and danger to their homeland. So, they attack Syria and wipe out the missile manufacturing plant there.  There you have it. A statement to the Arab world that Israel is serious when it comes to protecting their people and their turf.

It is important for Israel to get this point out across the Arab nations. The United States has made it clear that they support Israel,  and would come to their aid. But it is no secret that President Obama is not all that supportive of Israel.

However, I maintain that it is important for this President to change his mind, mindset, and attitude toward Israel, because they are the last real democracy in that region. They are our closest ally and we are no doubt in tough spot if we fail our obligation to them.

With several Arab nations rattling their swords because of these recent events, the United States needs to step up to the plate and reinforce our commitment to Israel.

This is our obligation, and all the world should know that we will not back away from our commitment.

That’s my point of view, and as usual I look forward to your insights on the issues and events of the day.

Have a good one folks, and as usual    God Bless  America.

I am 62 years old. I've been blogging for several years. I am into History and Politics as well as currant events. The latter being the main issues covered on these pages. I was a Community Advocate for twenty years, and a volunteer aide in a State Representatives Office in my home state of Michigan. While I have basically ceased these activities, I still watch the world around me closely and report on it as much as I can, which I might add is often. I encourage comments on my Blogs. I only ask that we keep our opinions clean and without insults threats or intimidation. I hope you take time to read The Horton Journal, and look forward to your comments.
