A year ago Egypt was in an uproar. Having just run President Mubarak out of office, the people of Egypt elected a member, and advocate of the Muslim Brotherhood into office as their President. It was not long before he began to ignore the people, and slowly impose Islamic law on the land. This of course to the dismay of the people who voted this guy in. Freedom, for what it is worth in the mid-east was going down the tube.  The rights of the people were of no real concern. Islamic law has been tightening its grip for a year. Now, the voice of the people has risen and there is nothing anyone seems to be able to do about it.

The Egyptian military now has threatened that if the Government does not get a handle on these demonstrations, perhaps the largest ever in mid-east history, they will step in and impose military law.

This is the problem of our attempts to impose, or encourage democratic concepts in the Mid East. They do not understand what democracy is. And, when there is democracy, they want the laws written in such a manner where Shira law can supersede at will. In other words, in reality, radical Islamic law rules. Everything else is nothing more than window dressing.

Across the Mid East people are thinking they are fighting for freedom. They think they are ridding themselves of horrific cruel dictators, only to discover, the Muslim Brotherhood, who wants to rule over them is just more of the same. Cruel dictators.

So, once again we sit by radios and TV’s and watch as another attempt at Mid East government falls. We will probably watch the military step in and wipe out a couple of hundred people. Watch as another administration goes off to prison, and watch as the government imposes martial law on the people.  The people want freedom. The only problem is, they have not yet begun to be able to define what freedom is.

Yet another sad commentary on a situation in the Mid East where The united states is unable to do anything about a mess that is partially their own fault.

That’s my point of view……….What do you think?  Drop a line and if not….That’s OK too. Have a great day and as usual……….God Bless America!

I am 62 years old. I've been blogging for several years. I am into History and Politics as well as currant events. The latter being the main issues covered on these pages. I was a Community Advocate for twenty years, and a volunteer aide in a State Representatives Office in my home state of Michigan. While I have basically ceased these activities, I still watch the world around me closely and report on it as much as I can, which I might add is often. I encourage comments on my Blogs. I only ask that we keep our opinions clean and without insults threats or intimidation. I hope you take time to read The Horton Journal, and look forward to your comments.
