As expected, one day we are on the brink of sinking like the Titanic, the next thing we hear is our Senate is ready to close a budget deal. That of course is not saying that the House won’t throw a monkey wrench into the fray and screw everything up just to make a point.

In reality, one small faction should never to have been allowed to shut down the whole bloody government in the first place. Every one of these Tea Party clowns should have been sanctioned for their irresponsible act. As far as I am concerned they willfully, with malice and forethought, held the country hostage, and without hesitation violated their promise to this country to defend and protect the United States. They violated their Constitutional Oath. For that they should be sanctioned. The Speaker should completely strip them of their responsibility, remove them from chairmanships of any key committees, and remove them from committee positions. They should be reprimanded publicly from The House Floor, and if possible fined!

This country should not tolerate this kind of behavior from anyone. To take this country to the brink of  economic kaos with total and complete disregard for the economic impact of their actions is irresponsible.

The Tea Party should be made to understand that this is no longer going to be tolerated.

I recognize that there are serious issues  with Federal spending

This needs to be addressed. I would propose that Congress introduce an Economic Spending Reduction Act. That act would go after irresponsible spending, buried under layer after layer of Federal Programs. Wasteful, unaccounted for stupid stuff. There is said to be a whole list of this kind of budget allocations placed there to take care of ol’ Sal and the boys back home.  Next, would be a Bill that would bring to a halt mandatory Budget increases for Federal Agencies and programs. This happens on an automatic basis each Fiscal Year. This one step would slash Federal Spending dramatically.

There are sensible and reasonable actions that can be taken by both sides that would help to at least begin Federal spending reductions. The one thing we do not need to do though is start in after Social security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, Wic and other important programs that help the poorest of the poor. We don’t need to start in on this “Something needs to done about entitlements”, campaign again. It becomes the center of attention, a waste of valuable time, and avoids the real issue at hand “Wasteful Government Spending”!

Lets take care of the debt ceiling, open the government, and get to work!

That’s my point of view, and I look forward, as usual to your comments on this and all the issues of the day!

Have a good day and ………God Bless America!

I am 62 years old. I've been blogging for several years. I am into History and Politics as well as currant events. The latter being the main issues covered on these pages. I was a Community Advocate for twenty years, and a volunteer aide in a State Representatives Office in my home state of Michigan. While I have basically ceased these activities, I still watch the world around me closely and report on it as much as I can, which I might add is often. I encourage comments on my Blogs. I only ask that we keep our opinions clean and without insults threats or intimidation. I hope you take time to read The Horton Journal, and look forward to your comments.
