Sometimes I wonder if people even realize what is going on around them. I mean, half the time it seems folks walk around in a void. It is as if they are living in a locked in self world. nothing phases them unless it directly involves their being, and as a result they don’t care much about anything. Our country is in serious trouble. The kind of trouble that could affect our very way of life. But most people just go on their way as if nothing is going on. Look, as long as it does not affect me, my wife, kids, and family, I am not at all interested. Now, if it were to impact one of their cherished loved ones, we would never hear the end of it. What a sad commentary.
Most folks can’t even carry on an intelligent conversation, because they don’t know what’s going on, don’t care what’s going on and for that matter, they don’t even want to know what’s going on. It does not affect them directly, so they are not at all interested.
In a flash, we all knew about the beginning of World War II. In no time, 65 million Americans were aware that JFK had been gunned down in Dallas Texas. Phones rang all over America when two jet airliners took out the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and one crashing in Pennsylvania. But, it seems, that as soon as the event was a week old, they were right back to their same thing. Hear no evil, See no evil, and don’t care about evil. Yeah, Yeah, old news. What a short attention span.
A few short weeks ago the government of this nation was about to allow the country to go under, into default. No one cared, didn’t affect them, no time worry, no time to care. Once again, as long as it does not affect them and theirs, they don’t care.
But had the government actually shut down, and our bills not payed, and then they were layed off, due to slumping sales, boy oh boy, we never would have heard the end of it. They the ones who don’t care would be hollering at the top of their lungs. demanding something be done. Why was this not avoided. etc;
Here is what I am getting at. Through out our history, and the history of the world, it was the uninformed, those who did not care, and did not want to care, were not interested, as long as they were not effected, who in the end lost their freedom. Now that they were effected though, it was too late.
We as Americans need to get out of our comfort zone. We need to stop for the moment, a moment of national crisis, and pay attention to the events of the day. Then, we need to ponder whether or not the events of the day will eventually impact our lives and the lives of those we love around us. Finally, it is time to get involved. It is time to respond. It is time for us to realize that Freedom isn’t free. We often have to pay the price, and sacrifice for our liberty.
What is happening with the persistent threats to hold our nation hostage through forced government shutdowns, the sickening roll out of Obama Care, our embarrassing stance in foreign affairs all around the world, our economic recovery which is paying lower and lower wages, and ever higher costs of living, as well as the largest deficit in American history, are the issues of the day. Those issues impact us all. One day, if not addressed by the people, those issues could bring this nation to its knees.
Then, there will be no comfort zone.
That’s my point of view, and I look forward to hearing your views on the issues of the day.
Meanwhile, as usual…………God Bless America!
