Vladimir Putin the leader of Russia has ignored the United States, (World Police), and taken action to absorb Crimea as per the wishes, I might add, of the Crimean people.  The referendum vote was overwhelming in favor of joining the Russian Federation, This despite the fact that the Crimean people were, at least, part of the Ukraine. Now apparently there was this treaty that assured that such an event as this might never occur, but the economic and political situation being as it is and all, the good people of Crimea have decided that they would rather, after all these years, return to Mother Russia.

Now, that is not to say that Russia does not actually have an interest in all this because in fact they do have several military installations  there, which as they see it, justifies said interest. Therefore, with the vote complete, Putin has approved returning this apparent lost lamb of the Mother Land to Mother Russia, with open arms of course.

Enter The United States, the World Police, who say not so fast. There are legal issues here, and of course the interests of the United States. We have a say in all this you know….and we say no!!!! But Russia says Yes, and we really don’t give a Rats rear end whether the United States approves or not. As a matter of fact the US should watch their step, according to a top rated News Outlet approved by Putin, and anchored by a top correspondent who just happens to have the ear of Mr. Putin, and of course they both are the best of friends. This means that he answers to Putin, and this News anchor said recently that Russia has the ability to turn The United States into nothing more than a Nuclear Ash Heap. Hmmmmm, a veiled threat by Mr. Putin?

Meanwhile the US threatens sanctions. That is not working. Mr. Kerry tells Putin the Cold War is over….Get over it! ……That’s not working either. despite the fact that our great President Obama talks more to Putin than any other world leader, the word is that Putin has absolutely no respect for Obama in the least. He sees him as weak, and basically, without any real knowledge of Foreign Affairs.

As I see it.

The United States has no real interest in this issue other than some treaty that has been voided out by the act of the Crimean people by a referendum vote to return as a part of Russia. The Russians do have an interest in the region because of military installations there, bases I might add that have been there for years. The Russians have made it clear that they have no intentions on military action against the Ukraine. Therefore, all this political noise is for nothing in as much that there is nothing much the US can do any way. What little sanctions they have taken amount to nothing. Other Euro nations do not seem all that interested in making this into a big deal. Mr. Obama carries a short stick, and whatever power he thinks he has others can care less whether he swats it or not. This President has succeeded in moving the United States to the back of the class, as far as world affairs and Foreign Affairs is concerned.

I think it is best for The United State to drop the matter and stop worrying about every pop corn nation and their affairs. We might instead consider worrying a little more about our own economic crisis right here at home. Maybe we should focus our attention on our budget, or the national debt, or how we are going to improve the American infrastructure or something. Maybe it is time that we worry about America and not worry about others. It is obvious that others can care less about us. They are not the least concerned about the economy of The United States. They are not the least concerned about the country who delivered freedom to them after WWII. We delivered a complete rebuild of their infrastructure, and what have we got to show for it? Not much.

Enough already. It is time for us to rebuild The United States and let others alone, and stop acting as if we are the World Police. Crimea is now a part of Russia. That is the will of the people of Crimea. Russia has approved their return to Russia, and should be that. The end of the matter.

That’s my point of view………As usual I look forward to your insights on this and all the matters of the day.

Have a great day and as usual……God Bless America.

I am 62 years old. I've been blogging for several years. I am into History and Politics as well as currant events. The latter being the main issues covered on these pages. I was a Community Advocate for twenty years, and a volunteer aide in a State Representatives Office in my home state of Michigan. While I have basically ceased these activities, I still watch the world around me closely and report on it as much as I can, which I might add is often. I encourage comments on my Blogs. I only ask that we keep our opinions clean and without insults threats or intimidation. I hope you take time to read The Horton Journal, and look forward to your comments.
