Republicans currently control the House 232 to 200 with three vacancies. According to Reuters News Service some forty House members and Senators have announced plans to leave their seats in Congress in advance of mid-term elections including 22 Republicans and 18 senators. Something it seems is amis in both Houses, because there is no doubt that in Washington power is the name of the game, and some of the de partie’s are among the most powerful in D>C> including names like US Senator Carl Levin and Congressman Mike Rogers of Michigan. Also leaving is another influential member of the House Republican aisle David Camp. and Democrat Gary Peters. I found it somewhat surprising that so many have decided to call it quits. It tells me that they see hand writing on the wall that most of us out here in the street do not see.
Our economy is indeed in danger, and Russia is flexing their muscles in a manner uncomfortable to us all. China is also flexing telling us all that they too are part of the so-called New World Order. They do this because of the weak Foreign policy of a weak US President.
This why it surprises me to see senior Senators like Carl Levin (D), Michigan, Tom Harkin (D) Iowa Tim Johnson (D) South Dakota Jay Rockefeller, West Virginia Max Baucus another Democrat out of Montana.
Mike Rogers (R), of Michigan an extremely powerful House Member chairing the House Intelligence Committee. You just do not pull the plug on such seats under normal circumstances. That is why I am wondering what is going on in Washington. It could mean that inside polls point to the coming of a more radical Right Congress in the wings. An influx of Tea Party blood about to force their way on to the political scene. I see this perception as very dangerous.
Now there are those who think that this would be great for the country. They figure they are safe from any major cuts and slash burning tactics put on by these far Right conservatives.
However, again I say, that while their talk is all so impressive today, when they pop open their real agenda this country will be in for a real surprise. We will pay for it through the nose, and any hopes for a thriving economy will be out the window. That is because we, the tax payer, you and me, will so busy paying the tab, that we will not be able to do anything much than work all the overtime we can to pay the Bill. Any leisure time for lower and mid level middle class will be gone. The upper tier though will be having a grand ol’ time at our expense.
Of course if we have a Democratic sweep, which I doubt, the taxes and cost of living will continue to rise out of control.
What is needed though is a middle of the road congress that knows the fine art of compromise, understands that Congress must work together, and that much of what they do determines the true security of this country and it’s future. Blaming the woes of our economic problems on those least able to pay though is a recipe for disaster. All we do by this is take these people out of the economic equation, and keep them down. If they do not participate in the economy then it just hurts recovery. If we remove the middle class and upper middle class as well then the country will no doubt implode.
No doubt though. Something is up. Too many are heading for the door during the course of this mid-term election. It leaves the door wide open for a power struggle and open political war fare in the House and senate.
Hang on to your seat folks, this is going to be more of an interesting political year than any of thought.
have a great day, and as usual……God Bless America.
