About The Horton Journal

I am the ripe ol’ age of 59.  I guess that is not what a lot of people would call an old man today. However, over time we all change. I’d like to think for the better.  I’m not as liberal as I used to be. But then again, I am not too conservative either.  I usually vote Democrat, so I guess that labels me somewhat, but then again, there are a few Republicans on my list as well.

Of late however, I have noticed that I am becoming more Patriotic. I am greatly concerned for the future of this great nation. I love freedom and do not want to risk losing it.

I love Blogging.  Being part of the Social Media is a blast. It lifts my spirit,  enhances my self-worth. It makes me feel like I am part of something.  To me one of the most important parts of my day is making sure I get my Blog published.

I have learned a lot in this field as well. I also have made some friends. They are honest with me, and not afraid to say they disagree. That’s important to me.

I write about current events because it affects us all. I write about politics because it has an impact on our everyday life. I write about Social Issues, because I think we all need to know whats going on around us. I write about world events because we are all part of an ever-growing, expanding world.  What happens for example in Japan effects everyone here in the United States. The events of China, Russia, and the Mid-East impact us all. We need to know whats going on, we need to comment on those issues.

Blogging, what they are calling the Social Media is expanding upon those events. Trust me my friends, there are those who are not happy with that. Why? Because all too often what we hear or the media spin is not true. What is fed to John Q. Public as Gospel, is often nothing more than a myth. We sometimes find ourselves exposing the lies and myths. Because all of us need to know the other side of the story. I also think that what we see on these various pages, Blogs, is a reflection of American opinion.  We see all these polls, and data that says this is how John Q. Public feels about this or that.  Then I go looking at various Blogs and find that this is not the case.  As one searches these Blogs, they look into the window of real Americans who have opinions, thoughts, and feelings about the issues near and dear to their lives. That is why even the government reads these entries, because they know full well that these Blogs are, to steal a phrase, the heartbeat of America. They are a Social as well as Political perspective.

In a nutshell, that’s what The Horton Journal is all about. It is a Political Perspective. It is a quest for the truth. It is an opinion on the events of the day, my opinion, but it is only one opinion among thousands, if not millions.

We in The United States enjoy the right to free speech. We have the right to express our opinion. We have the right to redress our government without fear of  intimidation, repression or threats or arrest and imprisonment. These ideals seem to be in danger in this country, because there are those who are bent on controling  people. They thrive on control, and will take freedom away to accomplish that goal.

We the People have an obligation to protect freedom, and free speech. The very moment that is taken away, all is lost. Democracy as well as a United States of America.

There are countries like China, where if I were to express just a mere opposition to what is going on, and they deem it as a minor almost non-existent threat, that in itself is enough to warrant arrest and imprisonment.

But I live in The United States of America and because I do I have the right and I might venture to say the responsibility to express my opinion. We all have an obligation to cherrish that and to do everything we can to preserve it.

So, do as I have.  Venture out, take a chance. Write a Blog. Become part of the Solution….Not Part of the problem!

That is what The Horton Journal…A Political Perspective, is all about.  I hope you read it, I hope you enjoy it, and I look forward to your response.
